Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week they provide a topic, and you choose ten book related things to answer the topic. Today’s topic is the last ten books you’ve acquired, whether that be from purchasing. borrowing from a friend or library, or being sent review copies. Here are the last ten books I’ve gotten:
Title: Red Queen (Red Queen #1)
Author: Victoria Aveyard
Publisher: Orion Books
Format: Paperback, 388 pages
This was one of my most anticipated books for 2015, and I can certainly say that it lived up to, and well beyond my expectations. Red Queen simply put, is freaking fantastic.
The basic premise of the book is that there are two kinds of people in the world, those with silver blood, and those with red blood. The silver bloods are the elite, ruling and controlling due to the powers their blood provides them with. The red are the commoners, stricken by poverty, and forced to fight a war that isn’t theirs due to the manipulation of society by the Silvers. Mare is a red blood, who gets caught in the palace displaying powers that only Silvers have. Fearful of her abilities, the King betroths Mare to his youngest son, Maven. Forced into a life surrounded by people she hates, Mare decides to use her position to help the resistance, and bring the Silvers down from the inside.
