Top Ten Tuesday – Top Ten 2016 Releases I Can’t Believe I Still Haven’t Read

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week they provide a topic, and you choose ten book related things to answer the topic. This week is a freebie week, and due to the fact that I have yet to read many of my most anticipated 2016 releases, I thought that this would be a great topic to do! I’m also cheating a little bit – top ten tuesday has turned into top eleven tuesday because I couldn’t cut this list down anymore!

Before I get started, I feel like I should mention why I have barely read any of the 2016 releases. I have been in numerous slumps, and when I have been reading I’ve been trying my hardest to read books that I’ve owned for a longer time. But next month I’m planning on having a read whatever the hell I want kind of month so hopefully I can cross some of these books off then!

In no particular order;

1. The Crown’s Game by Evelyn Skye

   I have a particular interest in books set in Russia, and when I heard about this book I was so excited for it’s release. Although this one hasn’t been out all that long, I still am surprised that I haven’t picked it up and devoured it yet.

2. The Things I Didn’t Say by Kylie Fornasier

   If you’re not Australian, you may have never heard of this book (or this author). But I read Fornasier’s other book Masquerade  a few years ago and fell in love with her writing. This one released in May, and I even ordered a signed copy, and I am ashamed that I still haven’t picked it up!

3. The Crown by Kiera Cass

   I’m one of those reader’s who lists The Selection series as one of their guilty pleasure books. I mean, the books aren’t the greatest, they’re filled with whiny characters and underdeveloped worlds and problems, and yet for some reason I still love them. I  kind of think that these last two books still shouldn’t have been a thing, but as I’ve read 4/5 books I am going to get to The Crown sometime soon.

4. The Problem With Forever by Jennifer L. Armentrout

   Jennifer is one of my auto-buy authors, and this book sounds incredible and I still haven’t read it. I don’t even have a good enough reason as to why I haven’t read it!

5. Dream On by Kerstin Gier

   This is the sequel to Dream a Little Dream, which was a book I read last year and absolutely loved. I feel like it’s a bit of an underrated book, and that not many people are that aware of them, but it’s just such an entertaining read. I was so excited for the sequel to release, and in spite of needing a reread of the first book, I can’t believe I still haven’t gotten around to this one yet.

6. The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson

   I feel like this was THE summer release book. Everyone, and I mean everyone, has seemed to have read this book already and then I’m just over here in the people who own it but haven’t read it yet. Perhaps it’s because it’s winter here in Australia and I’m not in the mood for a cute summery contemporary? Who knows!

7. This Is Where It Ends by Marieke Nijkamp

   This one wasn’t actually an anticipated release for me. I had never heard of it, and then suddenly I had, and I knew I just needed to get it because it sounded so incredibly interesting. Since it’s the premise that sold me on the book, i’ll summarise what it’s about as I understand it. Basically it’s the story of a high school shooting, and it’s told from the perspective of four characters, so in total the timeline of the book is like an hour or something like that. And it just sounds so emotional. I bought this book with the plans of reading it once it turned up, but that most definitely was not the case.

8. The Star Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi

   This one has a super pretty cover, and I don’t actually know all that much about it but I just kept seeing it everywhere prior to it’s release. It seems to have received positive reviews, and it’s fantasy so I’m sure I’ll enjoy it when I eventually get to reading it.

9. The Way I Used To Be by Amber Smith

   This is another cover buy that turned out to have a very interesting plot line. And it’s another one I had bought in anticipation of reading straight away. But here we are in June and I still haven’t picked it up.

10. Broken Crowns by Lauren DeStefano

    If you haven’t visited my blog before, you wouldn’t be aware that Lauren is one of my favourite authors. She has some of the most beautiful writing I’ve come across, and she’s become an auto buy author for me. Broken Crowns is the third and final book in this trilogy, and even though I wasn’t as impressed with the second book as I was with the first book, Perfect Ruin, I am still pumped to see how she wrapped this series as a whole. Also, this book is tiny, I have no excuses as to why I haven’t read it yet!

11. Rebel Of The Sands by Alwyn Hamilton

    And finally, we have a book that sounds so darn amazing and that has a super stunning cover and that I have now owned for months and have still not read yet. Soon!

As I was writing this post, I came to the conclusion that this is now going to be more July TBR. I am clearly so excited for these books, so it’s time for me to stop putting it off and just read. If you’ve read any of these books, which ones should I read first? I would love to know!
